Okay so this is going to sound like the most first world problem ever, but it feels like I am fucking DROWNING in wand vibrators recently. Everyone’s making them, so how can any of them ever feel like something genuinely new?

Well, making a double-ended one is certainly novel, which is where the Wicked Game massager is massively different from its rivals. One end is a standard wand shape, whilst the other is more like a normal vibrator.

Next to favourite pen (Lamy Safari, stationery fans) for size comparison.

My initial thoughts were that it’s trying to be everything but risks being nothing. It’s quite small, which is handy for travel but means that both the wand and the vibrator are nowhere near the size of the products it’s trying to replace. That said, it’s nice to have a wand toy that doesn’t make your arm want to drop off within the minutes – most of them are bloody heavy! Obviously the reason for the light weight – cordless rather than mains-powered, smaller motor, etc – also means that it’s not as powerful. It absolutely, certainly works, but not in that ‘OH MY GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ANYTHING HELP OOOOOOOHHHHH’ way that a Doxy does.

My other issue is that you can’t use both ends at once, which is missing a trick in my book. Why offer all the fun then only allow half? And the vibrator end just doesn’t make enough effort, in my opinion – it’s neither big enough or buzzy enough to achieve much more than a tingle. In fact, its ‘not quite strong enough’ tickle vibrations actually aggravated my RSI and left me with a limp wrist, which isn’t the after-effect of toy time one would usually hope for.

Negatives aside, this is actually a pretty decent product for the price. I know, that’s not what you’d expect me to say after being such a negative nelly. But it certainly holds a good charge (and it’s one of the newer style magnetic attachments, which I like very much), which you’d think would be a basic requirement but is actually quite rare. I’m not going to lose the love for my plug-in buzzy friends just yet, but if you’re looking for a rechargeable that doesn’t sound like a tractor got loose in the bedroom and won’t give out on you in the middle of fun times, the WG might just be the toy for you.

TL;DR – a good solid toy for the price, that’s truly portable and has plenty of variety (just don’t expect much from the vibrator end).

The Wicked Game massager is definitely worth a punt if you like wands but don’t like packing huge toys with miles of cable. It costs £54.99 from So Divine – click here to view

Whilst writing this review I decided that what I really needed was a noise scale for all these products that claim to be ‘near silent’. BECAUSE NONE OF THEM ACTUALLY ARE. Some are definitely better than others though and the WG vibe is one of those – it wouldn’t take much to disguise the buzz, even at full throttle.

Noise level – Syd Barrett (not too loud but needs some distraction to avoid detection)

I am sent items free of charge for review purposes but I am not paid for reviews and my opinions / those of my reviewers will always be honest (in fact if I really hate something it’s more likely that I just won’t review it at all and will go back to the manufacturer and ask them WTF they were thinking). I sometimes get a (very) small commission from purchases made from links on SDRR, which goes towards site costs. I adhere to all advertising rules and always use ‘no follow’ links where appropriate.
